Mountain Top Life DAILY DEVOTION

LIFE OF DISOBEDIENCE

21ST SEPtember, 2021

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Nehemiah 1-5

FIRE SCRIPTURE: Gen. 39: 1-13

1And Joseph was brought down to Egypt; and Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh, captain of the guard, an Egyptian, bought him of the hands of the Ishmaelites, which had brought him down thither.

2And the LORD was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian.

3And his master saw that the LORD was with him, and that the LORD made all that he did to prosper in his hand.

4And Joseph found grace in his sight, and he served him: and he made him overseer over his house, and all that he had he put into his hand.

5And it came to pass from the time that he had made him overseer in his house, and over all that he had, that the LORD blessed the Egyptian's house for Joseph's sake; and the blessing of the LORD was upon all that he had in the house, and in the field.

6And he left all that he had in Joseph's hand; and he knew not ought he had, save the bread which he did eat. And Joseph was a goodly person, and well favoured.

7And it came to pass after these things, that his master's wife cast her eyes upon Joseph; and she said, Lie with me.

8But he refused, and said unto his master's wife, Behold, my master wotteth not what is with me in the house, and he hath committed all that he hath to my hand;

9there is none greater in this house than I; neither hath he kept back any thing from me but thee, because thou art his wife: how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?

10And it came to pass, as she spake to Joseph day by day, that he hearkened not unto her, to lie by her, or to be with her.

11And it came to pass about this time, that Joseph went into the house to do his business; and there was none of the men of the house there within.

12And she caught him by his garment, saying, Lie with me: and he left his garment in her hand, and fled, and got him out.

13And it came to pass, when she saw that he had left his garment in her hand, and was fled forth.”

MEMORY VERSE:” What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? ”- Rom. 6:1

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE:
Wonderful, Glorious things are in store for you if you will only believe, Obey and Endure.

PRAISE WORSHIP: Take a worship song as led by the Holy Spirit

PROPHETIC WORD FOR TODAY:
The God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel will increase the power of obedience in your life.

The MESSAGE:

God commanded us to obey Him. By so doing, He gave us a principle by which to live and prosper. Also, by living a life of obedience consistently, we enable Him to build a hedge of protection around our lives from satan and the works of darkness.

Unfortunately, the devil and our carnal nature often drag us to do our own will and not God’s. Anytime you feel tempted to do the opposite of what God commanded you to do, the question you should ask yourself is this, “Will obeying God cost me more than disobeying Him?” Disobedience is the desire to consciously disregard God’s word and instruction. It is costly and God frowns at disobedient Christians.

Today’s text reminds us of Joseph. Despite the pressure mounted on him by Potiphar’s wife, he obeyed God. He said “How then can I do this great wickedness and sin against God?” He would have sinned against God and transferred his destiny. Another question you should ask yourself is this: “Can I experience greater happiness by committing this sin than I would by obeying God?” Check your heart and your life.

What are those bad things you have been doing in the secret and you think God is not watching you? Beloved, secret sins and partial obedience make you guilty. God does not see man on the outward. Rather, He looks into the heart of men or the dark room when no man sees or knows you. Your motives and thoughts are no secrets to Him; neither can hypocrisy cover up for your rebellion and disobedient acts.

When you choose to obey God, you have chosen the path way of wisdom. His promises of blessings for obedience are unquantifiable. Obedience to God is total, unconditional and not determined or affected by surrounding circumstances. When you obey Him, He will pull you closer to Himself and teach you more about His precepts and His love (John 15:14). As you talk and walk with Him, you will know him better.

Abraham did. He was called “a friend of God”. Moses obeyed God and could talk to Him, mouth to mouth. Jesus remains our Perfect Model and example. He never did contrary to His Father’s will. The words of Jesus in Luke 11:28 are quite profound. He said, “Blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.” Beloved, obey God and be blessed!
