EXTRA READING FOR TODAY: Leviticus 15-18
READ: Luke 18:35-43
35 Then it happened, as He was coming near Jericho, that a certain blind man sat by the road begging.
36 And hearing a multitude passing by, he asked what it meant.
37 So they told him that Jesus of Nazareth was passing by.
38 And he cried out, saying, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”
39 Then those who went before warned him that he should be quiet; but he cried out all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”
40 So Jesus stood still and commanded him to be brought to Him. And when he had come near, He asked him,
41 saying, “What do you want Me to do for you?” He said, “Lord, that I may receive my sight.”
42 Then Jesus said to him, “Receive your sight; your faith has made you well.”
43 And immediately he received his sight, and followed Him, glorifying God. And all the people, when they saw it, gave praise to God.

EXPOSITION
Being
attracted is to turn or look the way of a caller, or an event. It is
answering to a persistent demand (Jn. 20:11-16). It is both voluntary
and involuntary actions by the attracted. Attraction can sometimes be
distraction.
God is ever busy (Jn. 5:17). Yet, He finds time for man in every situation. He even encourages man to approach Him anytime, and that through His only begotten Son, Jesus (Isa. 1:18; 41:1; Jn. 14:14-19). We may always attract His attention by prayers. This is one of the keys that open heaven, and surely attracts God's attention. Any counsel or knowledge that limits or condemns this exercise is demonic and surely antichrist. 'Pray without ceasing', thus says the Lord! The cry of Bartimaeus in our text today (cf. Mk. 10:46-52), is a kind of prayer that halted the Master's movement.

Another
important factor in this regard is persistence. God cherishes
persistence. He who seeks the face of God with persistence against
every ailing situation and affliction through the Holy Spirit,
attracts God's attention greatly (Rom. 8:26,27). This turned out to
be a testimony to the blind man as read in today's devotional
scripture. Jesus' parable in Luke 18, highlighting the widow's
importunity vividly illustrates the concept on ground. Don't give up!
God is listening!

Moreover, the action of Ahab in 1 Kings 21:17-29 teaches us that humility attracts God's attention positively. The All-seeing God (Heb. 4:13) saw Ahab's gruesome murder of Naboth, and was ready to repay him accordingly (cf. Rev. 2:18-23; 22:9-12ff). However, the attitudes of repentance and humility shown by him (v. 29; cf. Prov. 28:13; Lk. 15:11ff; 2 Pet. 3:9) turned God's attention to him for mercy (cf. Isa. 57:15; 66:2). Pride turns God against the proud (Jas. 4:6,7).
May we find His grace to do those things that would attract His positive attention to us. Amen!
PRAYER
POINT:
1. Thank God for His listening ears to our cries.
2. Ask God for the grace to be importunate in prayers.
3. Pray for the weary and disheartened brethren for mercy and grace to attract God's visitation again.
DO HAVE A BLESSED DAY
