EXPOSITION

As we continue in our study on how to be financially independent today, we shall take a critical look at other biblical outstanding keys to possess it. The first one you have to take note here is that, you should do away with worldly pleasure. This is important in being financially independent. The Bible says, 'He who loves pleasure will be a poor man; he who loves wine and oil will not be rich' (Prov. 21:17). People who love pleasure spend their hard-earned resources on what cannot bring profit to them. This is a terrible act of wasting good and God-given treasures on unnecessary things (frivolities), and God doesn't take such lightly. Money is not meant to be spent, it is to be invested. Those who invest their money have more; those who spend their become unnecessarily poor. Money is hard to get, but easy to spend. Think twice before you put money into anything (Prov. 23:11-21).

If you are able to conquer the love of pleasure, the next key you need to have with you is to learn how to save. Practice the law of saving. When you make profits or get some blessings in some ways God has provided, save part of them first, before beginning to spend; save for the rainy day that will always come. This will help you to avoid buying those things you don't really need - impulse buying. According to financial experts, if you continue to buy what you don't need, you will later need what you can't buy.

Dear devout, don't wait until you gather huge amount of money before you begin to save. Cultivate that idea as early as possible in your financial life. To squander all you have has been biblically described foolishness (Prov. 21:20). Even, common sense knows that.

If you can combine these two keys discussed today in this devotional, doing away with pleasure, and saving, you can be sure of attaining to financial independence in life.

PRAYER POINT:

        1. Father, give me a special capacity not to love the pleasures of life.

  1. 3. Pray for CAC Odubanjo Region, our father in the Lord, the Superintendent, and its officers at the various levels, as led by the Spirit of God.
