DON'T DEPART FROM THE FOUNTAIN OF THE LIVING WATER

EXTRA READING FOR TODAY: Judges 13-16

READ: Jeremiah 17:13; Psalms 36:9

Jeremiah 17:13 O LORD, the hope of Israel, all that forsake thee shall be ashamed, and they that depart from me shall be written in the earth, because they have forsaken the LORD, the fountain of living waters.

Psalms 36:9 For with thee is the fountain of life: in thy light shall we see light.

MEMORISE: " But whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life . " – John 4:14

EXPOSITION

Today's topic charges us not to depart from the Fountain of the Living Water--our Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is the Water or Spring of life, hence the faultless reference to Him as the Living Water.

The woman at the well encountered Jesus, and since that day, her life was never the same. She had ignorantly brought the contentious tribal issue that existed between the Jews and the Samaritans into her discussion with the Omnipotent. She was arguing blindly, not knowing that she had come face to face with the Source of Life that she really needed. Divine grace spoke for her. The Water she got from Jesus that day (salvation of her soul) became in her, a fountain of water that sprang into everlasting life. The deepest secret of her life was revealed to her, and the solution came to her instantly.

You can't afford to depart from the Fountain of the Living Water because water itself is life, even as today marks World Water Day. 'For with you is the fountain of life' (Psa. 36:9). It is medically proven that our body system contains 75% fluid, and water is the major of this body fluid. Dehydration, that is a situation where the fluid in the body has drastically reduced, is a dangerous situation to the body system. Therefore, as it is harmful to physically stay away from water, so it is dangerous spiritually to desist from the Water of Life--Jesus Christ and His Spirit.

Also, water quenches thirst. Quenching your thirst is akin to getting lasting solutions to your life challenges. No situation can stand when the Water of Life is duly applied. Even the dead (Lazarus, for example) rose back to life immediately the Water of Life visited them. Don't depart from the Fountain of the Living Water because the consequences are better imagined than experienced.

PRAYER POINT:

1. Help me, O Lord, to stick with You, the Fountain of the Living Water.

2. Lord, so that I won't be dried off, let Your refreshing, satisfying and comforting water flow in, and through me, in Jesus' name.

3. Lord, help Your Church to be the right channel of sharing the Water of Life in this aching and dying world, in Jesus' name.
