Mountain Top Life DAILY DEVOTIONAL

ARE YOU FISHING IN THE WRONG WATER?

31ST , MAY 2022

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 1 Samuel 29, 1 Samuel 30, 1 Samuel 31, John 19:28-42, John 20:1-9, Psalm 68:28-35

FIRE SCRIPTURE: Matthew 4:18-22

18 And Jesus, walking by the Sea of Galilee, saw two brothers, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen.

19 Then He said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.”

20 They immediately left their nets and followed Him.

21 Going on from there, He saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets. He called them,

22 and immediately they left the boat and their father, and followed Him.

MEMORY VERSE:

And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men."
Matthew 4:19

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE:
Fishing in the wrong water is the expressway to poverty.

PRAISE WORSHIP: Take a worship song as led by the Holy Spirit.

PROPHETIC WORD FOR TODAY:

𝐈 𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐏𝐇𝐄𝐒𝐘 𝐔𝐏𝐎𝐍 𝐘𝐎𝐔 𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐓 𝐘𝐎𝐔 𝐖𝐈𝐋𝐋 𝐍𝐎𝐓 𝐒𝐏𝐄𝐍𝐃 𝐘𝐎𝐔𝐑 𝐋𝐈𝐅𝐄 𝐅𝐈𝐒𝐇𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐈𝐍 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐖𝐑𝐎𝐍𝐆 𝐖𝐀𝐓𝐄𝐑, 𝐈𝐍 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐍𝐀𝐌𝐄 𝐎𝐅 𝐉𝐄𝐒𝐔𝐒.

THE MESSAGE:

As we know, it is very clear from the Bible that God wants His children to prosper (3 John 2). Jesus also became poor for our sakes so that through His poverty we might be rich (2 Corinthians 8:9). As much as God wants His children to be prosperous, no believer can ever prosper fishing in the wrong water. Are you fishing in the wrong water?

From our Fire Scripture, the encounter of Jesus Christ with the fishermen-turned-preachers changed their destiny. It could be said that Peter, Andrew, James and John had a vague understanding of what the Lord created them to be. They were meant to be fishers of men, but they were labouring to catch fish. For as long as they were in the wrong business, they were fishing in the wrong water.

Beloved, one of the reasons many Christians are still experiencing one form of poverty or the other is that they are fishing in the wrong water. Ask yourself sincerely how you got into the business you are doing now. The career path you have chosen, how did you arrive there? What about the business partnership you are struggling to keep? The ministry you are running, who led you into it? The truth is that as long as you keep doing the wrong business or pursuing the wrong career, you will be fishing in the wrong water that brings futility.

If these fishermen had not encountered the mercy of God, they would have died as unknown, unfulfilled and unsung personalities who spent all their lives running in the wrong track of life.

This is a serious issue beloved, and I think the wisdom of Paul is needed here. The first question Apostle Paul asked Jesus during his encounter was, "What will you have me to do?" (Acts 9:6). The Lord responded and gave him a clear directive that saved him from fishing in the wrong water. If you don't want to spend all your days in penury, ask Jesus Christ to open your eyes to see what He has ordained for your lifting in life.

    PRAYER POINTS:

MORNING

    1. O Lord, open my eyes, in the name of Jesus.
    2. Powers assigned to confuse my life, die by fire, in the name of Jesus.
    3. Holy Ghost, envelop my life, in the name of Jesus.

EVENING

    4. Poverty of my father’s house, I am not your candidate, die by fire, in the name of Jesus.
    5. Darkness from my foundation, release my star and scatter, in the name of Jesus.
    6. Every arrow fired to bring down my glory, backfire, in the name of Jesus.
    7. Blood of Jesus, fight for me and deliver me from the wasters, in the name of Jesus.

            DO HAVE A BLESSED DAY
