EXTRA READING FOR TODAY:  Proverbs 7-9

READ:  Acts 5:17-21

 

17 But the high priest rose up and all who were his supporters, that is, the party of the Sadducees, and being filled with jealousy and indignation and rage,

18 They seized and arrested the apostles (special messengers) and put them in the public jail.

19 But during the night an angel of the Lord opened the prison doors and, leading them out, said,

20 Go, take your stand in the temple courts and declare to the people the whole doctrine concerning this Life (the eternal life which Christ revealed).

21 And when they heard this, they accordingly went into the temple about daybreak and began to teach. Now the high priest and his supporters who were with him arrived and called together the council (Sanhedrin), even all the senate of the sons of Israel, and they sent to the prison to have [the apostles] brought.

EXPOSITION

After being used by God to effect the healing of the about 40-year-old once lame-from-birth man, Christ's gospel spread like wild fire, and the devil can never be happy with such. Thus, he arranged threatening persecution for God's servants (Acts 4v1ff). That couldn't stop the church. Instead, it kept increasing, and God ensured the sanctity (5:1-11). Miracles followed (vv. 12-16), thus causing those who had chosen to be God's enemies to be *filled with indignation* (v.17), so much that they imprisoned the Apostles (v.18).

            Far beyond the joy of being released from detention by divine power (v. 18), there is something more interesting. The angel instrumental in releasing them commanded, *Go, stand in the temple and speak to the people all the Words of this life* (v.20). Why such a clear injunction?

        Whatever deliverance the church individually and corporately enjoys today is for neither frivolities nor sit-down-and-look. God never allows miracles without purpose. Everything He allows is targeted at fulfilling His eternal redemptive purpose. Whenever God chooses to deliever you in anyway/ form, it is for you to go all out, immediately, to tell the world about His greatness, goodness and faithfulness, in fact, *... all the Words of this life.* Jesus is the Life (Jn.14v6) who must be spread abroad through our deliverance testimonies.

          No one receives anything except from above (Jn.3v27). Okay. Why not use your experience of God's power to broadcast His Person and Power to the world as today marks World Population Day & International Town Criers Day.

         The more of such you do, the more of God's spectacular interventions you enjoy. Don't hide testimonies of His greatness and goodness to you.

 

 

 

PRAYER POINT:

1. Thank God for His unfailing promises to deliever and bless you all the way.

2. Pray for the grace never to abuse the privileges of being divinely delivered, anywhere, anytime.

3. Pray that churches would be more focused on revealing God's glory and the Gospel of Christ through the miracles He releases.
