LIVING WATER DAILY DEVOTIONAL
DELIVERED FOR A PURPOSE 2
12TH , JULY 2022
EXTRA READING FOR TODAY: Proverbs 10-12
READ: 2 Kings 20:12-18
12 At that time Merodach-baladan son of
Baladan king of Babylon sent letters and a present to Hezekiah, for he had
heard of Hezekiah’s illness.
13 And Hezekiah rejoiced and welcomed the
embassy and showed them all his treasure-house—the silver, gold, spices,
precious ointment, his armory, and all that was found in his treasuries. There
was nothing in his house or in all his realm that Hezekiah did not show them.
14 Then Isaiah the prophet came to King
Hezekiah and said, What did these men say? From where did they come to you?
Hezekiah said, They are from a far country, from Babylon.
15 Isaiah said, What have they seen in
your house? Hezekiah answered, They have seen all that is in my house. There is
no treasure of mine that I have not shown them.
16 Then Isaiah said to Hezekiah, Hear the
word of the Lord!
17 Behold, the time is coming when all
that is in your house, and that which your forefathers have stored up till this
day, shall be carried to Babylon; nothing shall be left, says the Lord.
18 And some of your sons who shall be born
to you shall be taken away, and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of
Babylon’s king.

EXPOSITION
We should have better understood from the message yesterday that
God doesn't give miracles purposelessly. In fact, the miracles are signs and
wonders. What does that means? They are meant to prove His power to the
recipients and others who see and hear such mighty manifestations. They are
signs of His power that would make people to wonder about His greatness, thus
making them curious to know Him, and eventually come into His fold.

The above is what
God intended to achieve through King Hezekiah, in his experience of miraculous
deliverance from the terminal disease that once ravaged him while he was on the
throne (2 Kgs. 20v1ff). Don't be like Hezekiah who was expected to show God's
holy light through the testimony of His miraculous healing when those
Babylonian envoys came visiting, but actually drew aside that testimony to
show-off his military and otherwise prowess. He regretted his action.
After his
deliverance, God allowed some Babylonian envoys to visit him, rejoicing with
him on his miraculous recovery (v.12). What a great opportunity to preach about
the incompatibility of YAHWEH'S power to those infidels! God expected him to
act wisely like Naman's little slave girl (2 kgs.5v2ff), but he misfired; he
*showed them all the house of his treasures... There was nothing in His house
or in all his dominion that Hezekiah did not show them.* What a fool!

How do you
present your accomplishments to people-your prowess, or God's faithfulness? How
well do you use those favours you enjoy from God to bring people to the
knowledge of His power and gospel? He who refuses to appreciate God's
faithfulness before all has himself to blame in the end (Matt.10v32,33). Ask
Hezekiah (2 Kgs.20v14ff).
PRAYER POINT:
1. Lord, may success/deliverance not blindfold me
from acknowledging You before men.
2. Lord, I will always acknowledge You wherever I
am; help me.
3. Pray for CAC Hanson Region, our father in the
Lord, the Superintendent and all its officers at the various levels, as led by
the Spirit of God.
DO HAVE A BLESSED DAY
