LIVING WATER DAILY DEVOTIONAL
TALK WITH YOUR GOD

11TH , AUGUST 2022

EXTRA READING FOR TODAY:  Jeremiah 10-13

READ:  Psalms 42:1-11

1 As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God.

2 My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?

3 My tears have been my meat day and night, while they continually say unto me, Where is thy God?

4 When I remember these things, I pour out my soul in me: for I had gone with the multitude, I went with them to the house of God, with the voice of joy and praise, with a multitude that kept holyday.

5 Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance.

6 O my God, my soul is cast down within me: therefore will I remember thee from the land of Jordan, and of the Hermonites, from the hill Mizar.

7 Deep calleth unto deep at the noise of thy waterspouts: all thy waves and thy billows are gone over me.

8 Yet the Lord will command his lovingkindness in the day time, and in the night his song shall be with me, and my prayer unto the God of my life.

9 I will say unto God my rock, Why hast thou forgotten me? why go I mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?

10 As with a sword in my bones, mine enemies reproach me; while they say daily unto me, Where is thy God?

11 Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.

MEMORISE: O my God, my soul is cast down within me: therefore will I remember thee from the land of Jordan, and of the Hermonites, from the hill Mizar.” -Psalms 42:6

EXPOSITION

We often tell God what we want, though what we need are the things we should be talking about. What we talk less to God about, however, is HOW WE FEEL! The psychotherapists and other social Scientific Counsellors tell us that what we think affects how we feel, and how we feel affects how we act. That is to say, our thoughts affects our feelings and our feelings affects our behaviours. No wonder the Bible charges us to *keep our heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life* (Prov.4v23). Why? *For As a man thinks in His heart, so is he* (Prov.4v23). Why? *For As a man thinks in his heart the mouth speaks* (Matt.12v34b).

David told God that his soul, his seat of emotions was cast down. That means, he was feeling depressed and he needed God's help to lift him up from the dungeon of apathy.

So, how are you feeling? High or low? Moody or merry? Alone or lonely? Or, in the crowd, but still feels alone? Have you spoken to God about your feelings? Remember, problem shared is half-solved already. God is even waiting for you to call Him, only that you have to do so while He is near (Isa.55v6). Paul enjoins us to pray without ceasing, too (1 Thess.5v17). This means we should call upon Him at all times, in all places, and in any posture, as the Holy Spirit help us.

Remember: if you don't talk with God, you are talking to someone else, whether you know it or not. There is no other remedy: *KJV:Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.* (Acts 4v12). Therefore, commune with Him in that situation now!
