the earth.

darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the
face of the waters.
3 And God said, Let there be light: and there
was light.
MEMORISE:” And the earth was without form, and void;
and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon
the face of the waters.” - Genesis 1:2
EXPOSITION
From the biblical point of view, if God is the Light, then
darkness connotes His opponent. The Prince of darkness hates the God of light,
and the Children of darkness detest the Children of the Light! Darkness and
light are antithetical. Darkness is a lack of illumination; it is an absence of
visible light. As a human being, unlike certain animals, such as lions, our
vision cannot distinguish colours in a dark atmosphere.
Emotionally, we
respond to darkness in various ways, including fear. As the brain, out of fear,
sends adrenaline to your body and prepares you for a fight or flight situation,
so darkness overwhelms you with fear. Symbolically, darkness gives the picture
of sadness, stagnation, lack of fulfilment, hatred, haphazard, emptiness,
unproductivity, etc. Darkness can serve as a judgement. Hence, God afflicted
the Egyptians, who worshipped the sun-god, 'Ray', with a "thick
darkness" that could be felt, because God brought judgment upon them!
(Exo.10:21-22)
Darkness causes
lack of progress, and brings chaos and fear into man's life. It brings
purposelessness and backwardness into man's life. Besides, there is one called
the Prince of darkness, who attempted to bring chasm between God the Father and
His Son on the Cross of Calvary (Matt.27v45-46), but he failed. He strives to
enslave man and separate him from his heavenly Father! Therefore, shout,
"Let there be Light!"
PRAYER POINT:
1. Give praises to God who rescued us from dominion
of darkness and brings us into the kingdom of His dear Son!
2. Lord Jesus, illuminate my life with Your light.
3. Declare the Light of God on every department of
your local assembly, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
DO HAVE A BLESSED DAY
