SIGNS OF THE TIMES (5)

FIRE SCRIPTURE:  Matthew 24:10-24

 

10 And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another. 

11 Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. 

12 And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. 

13 But he who endures to the end shall be saved. 

14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.

15 “Therefore when you see the ‘abomination of desolation,’ spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place” (whoever reads, let him understand), 

16 “then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. 

17 Let him who is on the housetop not go down to take anything out of his house. 

18 And let him who is in the field not go back to get his clothes. 

19 But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! 20 And pray that your flight may not be in winter or on the Sabbath. 

21 For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be. 

22 And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved; but for the [a]elect’s sake those days will be shortened.

23 “Then if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Christ!’ or ‘There!’ do not believe it. 

24 For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.

THE MESSAGE

 

Yesterday we looked at persecutIon and killing of Chistians as parts of the signs of the times foretold by Jesus Christ. Another is grand scale hatred of believers. The Bible says, If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you (John 15:18). Because of this hatred, many Christians are being denied of their benefits and legitimate rights. If this is your experience, be sure that your God will fight for you, in Jesus' name. In addition, in the circle of believers, many shall be offended (Matthew 24:10). This sign of the times is very touching because there are many people who are tuming away from Christ today, giving ridiculously flimsy excuses like 'when I returned from my trip, nobody came to greet me'; 'when my aged father was sick, I prayed for him, yet he died' etc. Many of those taking offence are supposedly old Christians. You, who are reading this devotional today, I hope you are not like that.

 

Brotherly betrayal is another sign of the times. The way some believers are crushing the hearts of their fellow brethren these days is something unimaginable. The question raised by Prophet Malachi is very relevant. "Have we not all one father? Hath not one God created us? why do we deal treacherously every man against his brother..?" (Malachi 2:10).

 

In a communist country, the communist soldiers arrested a pastor and his disciples -- two teenage sisters. On the promise of liberty by the soldiers, the Pastor shot the two sisters dead, Unfortunately, he too was eventually killed by the soldiers as they asked him to go.

 

Other signs include hatred among Christians; emergence of many false prophets who will deceive many, and the love of many waxing cold because of iniquity. There is also the widespread preaching of the gospel globally which has been enhanced through the internet. "And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh" (Luke 21:28). Are you ready for His coming?

 

PRAYER POINTS:

MORNING

1. Jesus, the Living Water, purify my life.

2. Corruption from my foundation, be cleared away by fire, in the name of Jesus.

3. Spiritual laziness, you shall not prosper in my life, die, in the name of Jesus.

 

EVENING 

4. Arrow of lukewarmness, release my soul and die, in the name of Jesus.

5. Whether the devil likes it or not, I shall not be among his disciples in hell fire, in the name of Jesus.

6. I shall not die with the enemy like Samson, in the name of Jesus.

7. I receive grace to overcome life's battles and be victorious, in the name of Jesus.
