THE COMFORTER

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Matthew 28; Mark 16

FIRE SCRIPTURE: Acts 2:1-4

1 When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. 

2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. 

3 Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them.

 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

MEMORY VERSE: ”But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you .” – John 14:26

THE MESSAGE:

The Comforter is another name for the Holy Spirit. He is a Personality and third in the Godhead. Before Jesus ascended, He gave soothing words of comfort. He promised that the Holy Spirit, the Comforter, will come and live with the Christians. He will comfort, control and direct us.

The Holy Spirit is also a teacher. No man ever learns anything aright, unless he is taught by the Spirit. No doctrine of the Bible can be well understood except through the Holy Spirit. The Holy Ghost is the perfect Counsellor. Apart from comforting us in the time of sorrow, He also prays for us with groanings that cannot be uttered.

The Holy Ghost is a loving Comforter. When you are in distress and need consolation, He will be there to comfort you and give you hope. The Holy Spirit is ever faithful. I don't know what you are going through. Do not depend on man to comfort you because he may not fully understand the pain of your heart. Turn to the Holy Spirit, the ever loving Comforter, and He will give you peace that passes all understanding which is able to keep your heart and mind.

In 2 Corinthians 1:3-4, "Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God." Those who are afflicted, troubled, sick (spiritually, emotionally and physically) all need the comforting ministry of the Holy Spirit. Each of such persons can experience His comfort when they cry to Him for help. However, if you are not a child of God, the Holy Spirit cannot indwell you and comfort you. I advise you to give your life to Christ now and experience the wonders of the Comforter.

Call upon Him daily in the name of Jesus and you will live a peaceful life.

PRAYER POINTS:

MORNING

1. Father, let the Holy Spirit fill me afresh, in the name of Jesus.
2. Father, let every unbroken area of my life be broken, in the name of Jesus.
3. Father, incubate me with the fire of the Holy Spirit, in the name of Jesus.

EVENING

4. Father, let every anti-power bondage in my life break, in the name of Jesus.
5. Lord, ignite my spiritual life with Your fire, in the name of Jesus.
6. Lord, release Your tongue of fire upon my life, in the name of Jesus.
7. Let all the strong men operating against my life be paralysed, in the name of Jesus.
