EXTRA READING FOR TODAY: Exodus 11-13

READ: Luke 7:37-50

37 And behold, a woman in the city who was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at the table in the Pharisee’s house, brought an alabaster flask of fragrant oil,

38 and stood at His feet behind Him weeping; and she began to wash His feet with her tears, and wiped them with the hair of her head; and she kissed His feet and anointed them with the fragrant oil.

39 Now when the Pharisee who had invited Him saw this, he spoke to himself, saying, “This Man, if He were a prophet, would know who and what manner of woman this is who is touching Him, for she is a sinner.”

40 And Jesus answered and said to him, “Simon, I have something to say to you.”

So he said, “Teacher, say it.”

41 “There was a certain creditor who had two debtors. One owed five hundred denarii, and the other fifty.

42 And when they had nothing with which to repay, he freely forgave them both. Tell Me, therefore, which of them will love him more?”

43 Simon answered and said, “I suppose the one whom he forgave more.”

And He said to him, “You have rightly judged.”

44 Then He turned to the woman and said to Simon, “Do you see this woman? I entered your house; you gave Me no water for My feet, but she has washed My feet with her tears and wiped them with the hair of her head.

45 You gave Me no kiss, but this woman has not ceased to kiss My feet since the time I came in.

46 You did not anoint My head with oil, but this woman has anointed My feet with fragrant oil.

47 Therefore I say to you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven, for she loved much. But to whom little is forgiven, the same loves little.”

48 Then He said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.”

49 And those who sat at the table with Him began to say to themselves, “Who is this who even forgives sins?”

50 Then He said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you. Go in peace.”

MEMORISE: See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil . - Ephesians 5:15-16

EXPOSITION

In 1988, the Nigerian Super Eagles were 4 goals down, few minutes to the end of the match between her and the then USSR. Then the team changed their tactics, making the most of the last few minutes. It paid off; the table was turned around, and they won the match. Some are late starters in life. They might have begun so late, sometimes, having blown up opportunities, yet, they still find favour to get to their destinies.

Onesimus was a bad employee. He ended up being a runaway slave, but God used Paul to set him on the right path. Apostle Paul himself was not a good starter as far as the gospel is concerned. Nevertheless, as soon as he started in Christ, he utilised every opportunity to the glory of God. Mary Magdalene lived the rest of her life, the best way (God-glorifying) after Christ delivered her of seven demons. She became a follower of Christ and one of the women that ministered to His physical needs. She anointed Him with an expensive alabaster jar of perfume (Lk. 7:37-38). She was the first to visit Jesus’ tomb, and ran ahead to inform His disciples of His miraculous, glorious resurrection.

Can your spouse be proud of you? Are you a father who has not done well to your children, or an employer/employee without good reputation? Are you a leader who has been performing below expectations? Living in regret isn’t the solution. Instead, make sure that the rest of your life/opportunities are done the best way (God-pleading way). Be the best to your spouse, children, employee/employer, or followers. Make the most of your remaining days on earth. Paul admonishes: ‘Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days’ (Eph. 5:16 NLT); ‘Make the most of every chance you get. These are desperate times!’ (The Message); ‘These are evil times, so make every minute count’ (CEV); ‘I mean that you should use every opportunity you have for doing good, because these are evil times’ (ERV).
PRAYER POINT:

    1. God forgive me for those years that were not properly used for You and people around me.

2. Help my resolve to use the rest of my life as the best that will come from me, O Lord.

3. Lord, help our leaders at all levels to make the most of their times and privileges for the betterment of their followers, and ultimately, God’s glory.

DO HAVE A BLESSED DAY
