POWER IN CHRIST'S WORD

21ST JANUARY, 2022

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Acts 13-14

TEXT: Matthew 8:1-13

1 When He had come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed Him. 2 And behold, a leper came and worshiped Him, saying, “Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.”

3 Then Jesus put out His hand and touched him, saying, “I am willing; be cleansed.” Immediately his leprosy was cleansed.

4 And Jesus said to him, “See that you tell no one; but go your way, show yourself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, as a testimony to them.”

5 Now when Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to Him, pleading with Him,

6 saying, “Lord, my servant is lying at home paralyzed, dreadfully tormented.”

7 And Jesus said to him, “I will come and heal him.”

8 The centurion answered and said, “Lord, I am not worthy that You should come under my roof. But only speak a word, and my servant will be healed.

9 For I also am a man under authority, having soldiers under me. And I say to this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes; and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”

10 When Jesus heard it, He marveled, and said to those who followed, “Assuredly, I say to you, I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel!

11 And I say to you that many will come from east and west, and sit down with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven.

12 But the sons of the kingdom will be cast out into outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”

13 Then Jesus said to the centurion, “Go your way; and as you have believed, so let it be done for you.” And his servant was healed that same hour.

KEY VERSE: Matthew 8:8

The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed ?”

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
Faith unlocks the door to the supernatural.

THE MESSAGE:

The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed.” - (Matthew 8:8)

Often, what prevents people from receiving miracle from the Lord is failure to do the simplest thing: believe that God is able and willing to change their situation. Where this is absent, problems defy prayers and despair deepens.

The encounter between Jesus and the Roman military officer, the centurion, is very instructive. The man could have been dissuaded from Jesus on account of race, pride, power, etc. But none of these things mattered to him. He was focused on getting healing for his servant who was sick at home. He told Jesus not to bother coming to his house. He believed that if Christ spoke the Word, his servant would be healed. As a commander over 100 soldiers, he understood authority. He knew that just as he could give order to his soldiers and they would obey him, so Jesus could command healing on his servant, and He would be obeyed.

It was a pleasant discovery for Jesus and He declared that He had not found such great faith in Israel. He warned the Jews that they risked being replaced in the kingdom of heaven by other people. To the centurion, Jesus said, “as thou hast believed, so be it done unto [you].” His servant was healed that very moment.

You must not allow anything to hinder you from receiving the fulfilment of the promises of God for all situations in your life. No sickness, affliction, infirmity, challenge or trouble can resist the word of Jesus Christ. He is the Word personified. So, His word is full of power and anointing; when it is received with faith, it results in explosion of miracles. Believe in His word and nothing shall be impossible to you.

DO HAVE A BLESSED DAY
