EXTRA READING FOR TODAY: Judges 8-9

READ: Luke 7:11-17

11 Now it happened, the day after, that He went into a city called Nain; and many of His disciples went with Him, and a large crowd. 

12 And when He came near the gate of the city, behold, a dead man was being carried out, the only son of his mother; and she was a widow. And a large crowd from the city was with her. 

13 When the Lord saw her, He had compassion on her and said to her, “Do not weep.” 

14 Then He came and touched the open coffin, and those who carried him stood still. And He said, “Young man, I say to you, arise.” 

15 So he who was dead sat up and began to speak. And He presented him to his mother.

16 Then fear came upon all, and they glorified God, saying, “A great prophet has risen up among us”; and, “God has visited His people.” 

17 And this report about Him went throughout all Judea and all the surrounding region.

EXPOSITION

Never you write off any situation, no matter how precarious it looks, when God is Involved. There have been hopeless situations that have eventually turned out positive (cf. Job 14:7). God is the ultimate Master at making impossibilities possible (cf. Rom. 8:28). What have you given up hope on? You don't have to lose hope, when God is Involved. Just have faith in Him; the best is coming. You will laugh last over those threatening conditions.

Your moments of sorrow shall turn to joy even as today commemorates International Day of Happiness (Psa. 30:5; Isa. 60:20). The woman in today's dose of the Living Water was a widow who had concluded over her dead son--her only hope. The people around her didn't help the matter as their actions were further confirming her believe that all was lost.

 However, Jesus had a contrary opinion. He knew, believed, and said that the boy was alive, in spite of the fact that the widow and her helpers were seeing a corpse. While the woman and her sympathisers were still mourning as they conveyed the corpse to the cemetery for the last respect, Jesus called on the supposed dead boy back to life. Stop weeping over that situation.

Call on God, through our Lord Jesus, to intervene, and see His great power fighting your course (Jer. 33:3). Watch your thinking, because it determines what you are getting. 'For as you think in your heart, so you are' (Prov. 23:7a). Through your thought process, you can approve or disapprove of any situation. A negative thinker will always experience the negative in all situations, while a positive thinker will see possibility in situations. This was what distinguished Caleb and Joshua from the rest (Num. 13:30,31). The Shunemite woman, unlike the widow aforementioned here, believed that all was well, and eventually, her dead son regained his life (2 Kgs. 4:18-35).

PRAYER POINT:

1. I command every good things that is dead in my life back to life, in Jesus' name.

2. I refuse to accept ill-fate in any situation; I believe that God is working for my all round good, in Jesus' name.

3. Lord Jesus, help believers who have given up hope of better lives in whatever situation, to believe that there is no situation that You cannot turn around for the best.
