EXTRA READING FOR TODAY: 1 Samuel 24-25

READ: Luke 1:26-35
26 Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, 

27 to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. 

28 And having come in, the angel said to her, “Rejoice, highly favored one, the Lord is with you; blessed are you among women!”

29 But when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and considered what manner of greeting this was. 

30 Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. 

31 And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name Jesus. 

32 He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David. 

33 And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end.”

34 Then Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I do not know a man?”

35 And the angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God.

EXPOSITION

Facts are occurrences in the real world; things that are real, true, and in actual existence. They are matters under discussion deemed to be true or correct. Faith, on the other hand, means complete trust or confidence in someone or something. The Bible's account of faith is that it is the assurance of things hoped for, and the evidence of things not seen Heb. 11:1.

Today's text shows the place of faith over facts. One of the facts of life is that a male and female specie must necessarily copulate to produce offspring, but the fact was overruled when Angel Gabriel visited Mary, and divinely facilitated the conception of a male Child, the Saviour of the world, in her. Mary asked him how it would be possible, since the fact remains that a man and woman would have to copulate before conception would take place. The otherwise had never happened and wasn't likely to happen soonest with her. After the angel's explanation on how it would happen, she believed and responded, 'Let it be to me according to your word' Lk. 1:38.

Dear devout, what are the facts of life that have confronted you and knocked out faith in you? If you believe God Who makes the impossible possible, He will come through you. Are you suffering from a terminal disease or any physical abnormality such as autism, as today marks World Autism Awareness Day? Does the future look bleak for whatever reason? Believe God for the needed miracle that will counter negative reports and see the Almighty God working wonders in your life, in Jesus' name.

Are you looking unto God for the fruit of the womb, and you have been told to forget about conception, based on available medical facts? God is still on the throne for you. The aged Sarah's case, who still conceived at 89, is remarkably unforgettable. You shall be productive again (Psa. 113:9; Isa. 54:1). Just cling unto God and have faith in His ability to come through for you, and you will not be disappointed.

PRAYER POINT:

1. Father, thank You for being the problem-solver and impossibility specialist. Visit my life, and turn my sorrow to joy, in Jesus' name.

2. Lord, increase our faith, even in the face of seemingly impossible situations, in Jesus' name.

3. Mention as many as possible families that are looking unto God for the fruit of the womb, that God should embarrass them with miracle babies, their ages or medical conditions notwithstanding.
