THE POWER OF PRAYER 2

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Joshua 11, Joshua 12, Luke 24:1-35, Psalm 51:10-19

FIRE SCRIPTURE: 2 Kings 20:1-7

1  In those days Hezekiah was sick and near death. And Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, went to him and said to him, “Thus says the Lord: ‘Set your house in order, for you shall die, and not live.’ ”

2 Then he turned his face toward the wall, and prayed to the Lord, saying, 

3 “Remember now, O Lord, I pray, how I have walked before You in truth and with a loyal heart, and have done what was good in Your sight.” And Hezekiah wept bitterly.

4 And it happened, before Isaiah had gone out into the middle court, that the word of the Lord came to him, saying,

5 “Return and tell Hezekiah the leader of My people, ‘Thus says the Lord, the God of David your father: “I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears; surely I will heal you. On the third day you shall go up to the house of the Lord. 

6 And I will add to your days fifteen years. I will deliver you and this city from the hand of the king of Assyria; and I will defend this city for My own sake, and for the sake of My servant David.” ’ ”

7 Then Isaiah said, “Take a lump of figs.” So they took and laid it on the boil, and he recovered.

MEMORY VERSE:

“Turn again, and tell Hezekiah the captain of my people, Thus saith the LORD, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will heal thee: on the third day thou shalt go up unto the house of the LORD. And I will add unto thy days fifteen years; and I will deliver thee and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria; and I will defend this city for mine own sake, and for my servant David's sake." –II Kings 20:5-6

THE MESSAGE:

Yesterday, we began to look at the power of prayer. Today, we are revisiting the life of that prayerful king called Hezekiah. May you be a reference point of good things, in the name of Jesus.

The Scriptures record that Hezekiah was sick unto death and he got this express message from Prophet Isaiah: "Thus saith the LORD, Set thine house in order; for thou shalt die, and not live."

Hezekiah did not argue with Prophet Isaiah for having the audacity to deliver such a terrible message to him, a whole king. He didn't engage in self-pity; rather, he took the matter back to God in prayer.

Prophet Isaiah had not even gone out of the palace before God told him to go back and reverse the evil prophecy of death, adding fifteen more years to the same life that was on the verge of packing up. That is what prayer can do when you trust in the Unchangeable Changer.

You might have received a bad diagnosis or perhaps you have a terminal sickness. It is only a medical report, not God's report and He alone has the final say concerning your life and situation. Someone once said that: "Receiving a diagnosis of cancer is like receiving a death sentence." But that is a personal opinion, not God's. That cancer doesn't have to kill you, if only you can be like Hezekiah. If God could reverse Hezekiah's death sentence that was from Him, how much more the one that comes from man.


Hebrews 13:8 says: "Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever." He has done it before and He's still in the business of healing the sick from all forms of sicknesses, diseases, infirmities and satanic afflictions. Rise up today from that bed of affliction; cry to God in fervent prayers and receive your healing as well as life in place of death, in Jesus' name.








PRAYER POINTS:

MORNING

1. Father Lord, in Your mercy today, let all my prayers receive Your positive attention, in the name of Jesus.
2. I pull down every stronghold of sickness, disease and infirmity, by the power in the blood of Jesus, in the name of Jesus.
3. Lord Jesus, transfuse me with Your blood, in the name of Jesus.

EVENING

4. O God, arise and give me a divine prescription to my situation, in the name of Jesus.
5. I will not bow to problems, my problems shall bow to me, in the name of Jesus.
6. My service and prayers to God will not be in vain, in the name of Jesus.
7. My destiny, hear the word of the Lord, you shall not be aborted, in the name of Jesus.
