WHERE IS THE LORD GOD OF ELIJAH? (2)
26TH , MAY 2022
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 1 Samuel 17:38-58, 1 Samuel 18, John 18:5-33, John 17:1-5, Psalm 68:1-6
FIRE
SCRIPTURE:
1 Kings 18:27-40
27 And so it was, at noon, that Elijah mocked them and said, “Cry aloud, for he is a god; either he is meditating, or he is busy, or he is on a journey, or perhaps he is sleeping and must be awakened.”
28 So they cried aloud, and cut themselves, as was their custom, with knives and lances, until the blood gushed out on them.
29 And when midday was past, they prophesied until the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice. But there was no voice; no one answered, no one paid attention.
30 Then Elijah said to all the people, “Come near to me.” So all the people came near to him. And he repaired the altar of the Lord that was broken down.
31 And Elijah took twelve stones, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Jacob, to whom the word of the Lord had come, saying, “Israel shall be your name.”
32 Then with the stones he built an altar in the name of the Lord; and he made a trench around the altar large enough to hold two seahs of seed.
33 And he put the wood in order, cut the bull in pieces, and laid it on the wood, and said, “Fill four waterpots with water, and pour it on the burnt sacrifice and on the wood.”
34 Then he said, “Do it a second time,” and they did it a second time; and he said, “Do it a third time,” and they did it a third time.
35 So the water ran all around the altar; and he also filled the trench with water.
36 And it came to pass, at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near and said, “Lord God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, let it be known this day that You are God in Israel and I am Your servant, and that I have done all these things at Your word.
37 Hear me, O Lord, hear me, that this people may know that You are the Lord God, and that You have turned their hearts back to You again.”
38 Then the fire of the Lord fell and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood and the stones and the dust, and it licked up the water that was in the trench.
39 Now when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces; and they said, “The Lord, He is God! The Lord, He is God!”
40 And Elijah said to them, “Seize the prophets of Baal! Do not let one of them escape!” So they seized them; and Elijah brought them down to the Brook Kishon and executed them there.
MEMORY VERSE:
“And
when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces: and they said,

MOTIVATIONAL
QUOTE:
The
Lord God of Elijah wields unconquerable power. He never fails.
PRAISE WORSHIP: Take a worship song as led by the Holy Spirit.
PROPHETIC WORD FOR TODAY:
I
DECREE THAT TODAY, THE GOD OF ELIJAH WILL MANIFEST HIS POWER AND
WONDERS IN YOUR SITUATION, IN THE NAME OF JESUS.
THE MESSAGE:
We
learnt yesterday that by the help of the Holy Spirit, Elisha
introduced us to the Lord God of Elijah. We found that his call upon
the Lord God of Elijah produced a miracle. The result served as a
proof that the God of Elijah is the living, sovereign and
miracle-working God. I would like to deepen your understanding of
who the God of Elijah is and what you stand to gain by connecting to
Him.
First, the God of Elijah is all-conquering. He is a
jealous and all-powerful God that defeats idolatry, false prophets
and apostasy. Ahab and Jezebel had allowed Baal worship to turn the
heart of Israel away from Jehovah. The souls of all Israelites were
so precious to God that He raised Elijah and used him to judge
Israel and end the apostasy. In the same way, God was so passionate
about redeeming the souls of mankind that He gave His only begotten
Son, Jesus Christ, as the ultimate sacrifice for man's
redemption.
Second, the God of Elijah fights for His children
and gives them victory. When God appeared as the defender of the
Israelites, Moses and the people he led saw the salvation of God.
When Goliath came against the children of Israel to defy the armies
of the Living God, David demonstrated the power of God. Goliath fell
and died. On Mount Carmel, when Elijah called on the God of Israel,
who answers by fire, the prophets of Baal were humiliated and were
all killed. Whenever you call on the God of Elijah to fight for you,
be assured that your victory will manifest, in the name of
Jesus.
The God of Elijah solves all kinds of problem, be it global, national or family problems. He delivered the family of the widow of Zarephath from death due to hunger. The moment Elijah got to their home, heaven ensured that their food supply never ceased until the famine ended. Dearly beloved, is there a need in your life? Are you going through a dry season? Call upon the God of Elijah now. He will end your dry season and supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus, in the name of Jesus.
