BIBLE
IN ONE YEAR:
Judges 1, Judges 2:1-5, John 4:1-26, Proverbs 11:9-18
FIRE SCRIPTURE: Romans 5:1-5
1 Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,
2 through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
3 And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance;
4 and perseverance, character; and character, hope.
5 Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

THE MESSAGE:
Longsuffering
is a component of the Fruit of the Spirit, according to Galatians
5:22-23. Although the list may not particularly be in order of
importance, yet the first on the list being love, according to many
verses of Scriptures is all encompassing (Romans 13:10b).
All
of these nine components stand alone, yet none can operate fully
without the other. The same goes for longsuffering, which is self
explanatory -- the kind of suffering that is long, enduring, and
almost indefinite. It means the godly virtue that works continually
within the life of an individual until it achieves the rightful
purpose. Some versions of the Bible defines it as, "forbearance
or patience". It works hand in hand with endurance and
perseverance until the expected godly character is
manifested.
Psalm 34:19 tells us of the many afflictions of
the righteous, just like Job. But thank God, who delivered him from
them all. The question that easily comes to mind is, "Why
should Christians suffer? Should God look away or fold His hands
when His children suffer? The Bible makes us realise that all those
who will live righteously in Christ must go through persecution (2
Timothy 3:12).
In the Bible, we see godly men and women
suffering for righteousness sake. However, while waiting on the Lord
according to His promises, these people eventually came to a
glorified end, which is the divine purpose of longsuffering in the
life of a believer.
Job was a man that went through so much
pain and suffering but instead of "cursing God" as his
wife suggested, he patiently waited on His Redeemer and his end was
greater than his beginning. Abraham endured the long waiting period
and received the promise of God (Romans 4:17).

As interesting as Joseph's story is, nobody will pray to experience the same. Yet he waited patiently for the promise of God and His righteousness, and went from prison to palace. The same goes for David, a man that went from cave to cave, seeking refuge from King Saul, who was bent on killing him for no just cause. He waited patiently, enduring the pain, yet made it to the throne as king over God's people, even with an everlasting promise.
