LIVING WATER DAILY DEVOTIONAL
BARREN CHRISTIAN

19TH , JUNE 2022

EXTRA READING FOR TODAY:  Psalms 40-45

READ:  Luke 13:6-9

6 And he told this parable: “A man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard, and he came seeking fruit on it and found none.

7 And he said to the vinedresser, ‘Look, for three years now I have come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and I find none. Cut it down. Why should it use up the ground?’

8 And he answered him, ‘Sir, let it alone this year also, until I dig around it and put on manure.

9 Then if it should bear fruit next year, well and good; but if not, you can cut it down.’”

MEMORISE: He dug it and cleared it of stones, and planted it with choice vines; he built a watchtower in the midst of it, and hewed out a wine vat in it; and he looked for it to yield grapes, but it yielded wild grapes." –  Isaiah 5v2

EXPOSITION

We all desire fruitfulness and multiplication. Pastors organise programmes on success and breakthroughs. Of course, our Lord, Jesus Christ desires that His children bring much fruits (godly, lasting) to Him. When and where He doesn't find such, or there is just so little, He is not happy (Lk. 3v8,9).

Believers are the fig trees planted in the Church and the world, by our Lord Jesus Christ who expects to see our seeds from evangelism, as He daily labours through His servants to water us with the Word of God. Yet, have we allowed our soil to be fertilized after all these years in church as worker and towards leader? Where are the results of those seminars, workshop, missions, and evangelism. He wants us to start exhibiting the fruits of the Spirit Who would help us to fight the flesh that prevents us from being fruitful. Do you still come late to church, fight, fornicate, and commit all sorts of immoralities (Tit.3v9, Jam. 4v1)? Billy Graham says, "We are the Bible the world is reading; we are the creeds the world is heeding"

Thank God, there is still room for repentance as Jesus pleads on our behalf, so we would not be cut off by the axe of God's judgement. Dear reader, how long have you been barren? Lots of works have been done on you so that you can bring forth good fruit, to no avail. Many are like the Pharisees who don't want to enter God's kingdom, yet still block those who want to (Matthew. 23v13). They are like the big tree shielding the plants underneath. Useless it is uprooted, they may not grow. Don't wait until you are either cut off or uprooted. Start the journey to fruitfulness today by turning properly to the Lord.
