WHY THE GREATER LIGHT FOR THE DAY?

14 And God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night. And let them be for signs and for seasons, and for days and years,

15 and let them be lights in the expanse of the heavens to give light upon the earth.” And it was so.

16 And God made the two great lights—the greater light to rule the day and the lesser light to rule the night—and the stars.

17 And God set them in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth,

18 to rule over the day and over the night, and to separate the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good.

EXPOSITION

The sun and the moon were both great in creation, and even now. But why is the sun made greater than the moon, ruling the day, other than the night (Gen.1v16)? It rules the day when most of human activities take place. Though we have few human activities that run through the night, most establishments open during the day. Since man is not a robot and need rest, the night has been designed for that. God Himself rested from all works on the 7th day (Gen. 2v2). God has chosen not to put humanity in perpetual darkness coupled with the fact that He Himself is light. The moon and the stars have been created to rule the night, still for the purpose of serving humanity.

          Is the sun great because of its size? No! Its greatness is in the amount of work (energy) it dispenses. To whom much is given, much is also expected. What are you doing with your gifts, talents, position, and substances? Remember you are created to influence, bless, and help others achieve their purpose; their lies your greatness.

         It is a pity, today, that those who have been made great turn themselves to oppressors, and some, for failing to shine on/for others, have been reduced, brought down, or destroyed. Some have also left their duty posts to pursue other people's offices, to their own detriment, shame, and fall.

        To remain ever great, above and the best in God, you must continue to shine for God's glory. Or, are you no longer the salt and light of the world (Matt. 5v13-16)? The sun never fails to discharge its duty to humanity, and that is why it remains unbeaten. Rise and shine brighter to the glory of God and the benefits of God and the benefits of humanity!

 

 

 

PRAYER POINT:

1. Lord, I thank You for all Your deposit in my life.

2. O Lord, deliever gospel artistes who have lost their values by coveting worldliness.

3. Pray for CAC Akinyele region, our father in the Lord, the Superintendent, and its officers at the various levels, as led by the Spirit of God.
