WAR AGAINST THE SPIRIT OF DESOLATION (2)

29^TH , JULY 2022

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:  1 Chronicles 6, Romans 12:1-21, Psalm 89:30-37

FIRE SCRIPTURE:   Ruth 1:1-7

 

1 Now it came to pass, in the days when the judges [a]ruled, that there was a famine in the land. And a certain man of Bethlehem, Judah, went to [b]dwell in the country of Moab, he and his wife and his two sons. 

2 The name of the man was Elimelech, the name of his wife was Naomi, and the names of his two sons were Mahlon and Chilion—Ephrathites of Bethlehem, Judah. And they went to the country of Moab and remained there.

 3 Then Elimelech, Naomi’s husband, died; and she was left, and her two sons. 

4 Now they took wives of the women of Moab: the name of the one was Orpah, and the name of the other Ruth. And they [c]dwelt there about ten years. 

5 Then both Mahlon and Chilion also died; so the woman survived her two sons and her husband.

6 Then she arose with her daughters-in-law that she might return from the country of Moab, for she had heard in the country of Moab that the Lord had visited[d] His people by giving them bread.

7 Therefore she went out from the place where she was, and her two daughters-in-law with her; and they went on the way to return to the land of Judah.

THE MESSAGE:

 

Yesterday, we talked about the unrighteousness of Israel, their stubbornness and how God brought judgement upon them. In our Fire Scripture today, the story revolves around a woman called Naomi and her family, who left Bethlehem-Judah for the land of Moab because of the famine in the land. This incident took place during the time of the Judges. It reveals that during one of the worst moral and spiritual periods of rebellion, there were still people who continued to honour God and to love Him.

 

When the family went down to Moab, they did not know that is was a land of blood that would suck good things out of their lives and leave them empty. The story of Moab was a strange one. Moab was the son of Lot through his first daughter. When God destroyed the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah, Lot decided to go to the mountain and he ended up in the cave with his daughters. The daughters, who had learnt the ways of the people of Sodom, got their father drunk and slept with him. Moab means, "The seed of the father" or according to other sources, "The desirable land". Moab was the eldest son of Lot through incestuous birth (Genesis 19:37). This was where Naomi and the family went to sojourn and she lost everything. Her husband and her two sons died.

 

Dearly beloved, the spirit of desolation can operate in an environment. What kind of environment are you living in? Are you in a place where all you have gathered over the years are gradually decreasing? Are you working in a place where you do not even know what you are doing with the money you earn? You need to wage war against the spirit of desolation by retracing your steps like Naomi, who went back home because things had improved.

 

PRAYER POINTS:

MORNING

1. Thou power of wrong location, get out of my life, in the name of Jesus.

2. Evil attraction to the wrong place, leave me alone, in the name of Jesus.

3. Power of the Holy Ghost to make the right choice, possess me, in the name of Jesus.

 

EVENING 

4. Power assigned to scatter what I have gathered, die, in the name of Jesus.

5. Every evil altar planning my demotion, catch fire, in the name of Jesus.

6. Ancient gates taking me back to square zero, catch fire, in the name of Jesus.

7. Power of the Holy Ghost, make a way for me, in the name of Jesus.
