DLCM DAILY MANNA DEVOTIONAL
WHAT WE NEED IS TRUE LOVE
27TH , JULY 2022
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Exodus 37-38
TEXT: Song of Solomon 8:4-7
4 I charge you, O daughters of Jerusalem, Do not stir up
nor awaken love Until it pleases.
5 Who is this coming up
from the wilderness,
Leaning upon her beloved? I awakened you under the apple tree.
There your mother brought you forth; There she who bore you
brought you forth.
6 Set me as a seal upon your
heart, As a seal upon your arm;
For love is as strong as death, Jealousy as cruel as the grave;
Its flames are flames of fire, A most vehement flame.
7 Many waters cannot quench love,
Nor can the floods drown it.
If a man would give for love All the wealth of his house, It would be utterly
despised.

KEY VERSE:
“Many waters cannot quench love, neither can the
floods drown it: if a man would give all the substance of his house for love,
it would utterly be contemned.” - Song of Solomon 8:7
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
Love is the most powerful force in the world.
THE MESSAGE:
Love is expected to be one of the strongest
factors in a marriage relationship. In fact, couples profess and believe in
their love for one another before they tie the nuptial cord at the wedding
altar. But the sad stories we hear in many homes soon after marriage and the
alarming rates of divorce and separations even among Christians, make us wonder what happened to true love.
Our passage today defines the power of true
love. It is strong, unquenchable, indestructible, boundless, and priceless. It
is not cold and lifeless. It burns in practical expression. Like a burning
flame, it consumes anything that stands in its way. Love is unstoppable. It
cannot be hidden or curtailed by anything nor can it be bought at any
price.
Unfortunately, many people love for the
wrong reason. Most are merely emotional outbursts and feelings which are mostly
unstable. Some may be due to the physical outlook of the person or for wealth
and other material gains. But all these do not last as true love transcends far
above them. If our marriages are going to last long and be truly enjoyed and
not merely endured, what we need is true love.

That is the kind of love that Jesus calls
us to have for one another. The depraved heart is not capable of loving this
much. There is a need for regeneration and sanctification of the heart for the
love of God to be truly shed abroad in the heart before we can have and display
this highest degree of love.
DO HAVE A BLESSED DAY
