DEALING WITH FOXES IN YOUR LIFE

READ:  Luke 13:31-33

 

[31]The same day there came certain of the Pharisees, saying unto him, Get thee out, and depart hence: for Herod will kill thee.

[32]And he said unto them, Go ye, and tell that fox, Behold, I cast out devils, and I do cures to day and to morrow, and the third day I shall be perfected.

[33]Nevertheless I must walk to day, and to morrow, and the day following: for it cannot be that a prophet perish out of Jerusalem.

EXPOSITION

On this day, which commemorates International Cat Day and International Infinity Day, be informed that some wild animals be very dangerous. Fox is one of them. The Bible warns of the destructive activities of 'little foxes' (sin, in this context) in man's life (S of Sol. 2:15). The fox also describes the clever and deceitful. We must watch out for those things that are foxes in our lives. Jesus identified Herod as that fox (Lk. 13:32).

Anyone not following God, but too full of himself, for whatever reason, not showing concern for others and God's purpose, is a fox. They are rife in the political, religious, business, and entertainment circles. They destroy others to achieve their godless ambitions. The chief-fox is the devil (Jn 8:44), whose evil works our Lord has providentially destroyed for us (1 Jn. 3:8). They are very destructive. There are habits that are little foxes in man's life. May the Lord help us catch these 'foxes', to protect the grapes of the vines ripe for harvest (S of Sol. 2:15). Amen.

To overcome these foxes, you must do the following:

1. identify the foxes in your life and around you. They are everywhere;

2. expose the foxes: Covering them is trying to kill yourself (cf. Prov.28:13);

3. in case of Satan's agents, be unperturbed about them, they are within the reach of God's power, and under your feet (Rom. 16:20);

4. allow God to catch them for you. Herod couldn't stop Jesus from accomplishing His task. They can't stop your destiny; and

5. don't be a fox in the vine of others, otherwise, God won't help you to deal with foxes in your own life (cf. Gal. 6:7).

 

 

PRAYER POINT:

1. Set me free from habits that can destroy Your purpose and plan for my life, O Lord.

2. Lord, in any way I have constituted a clog in the wheel of the successes of others, I repent. Please, forgive me, and help me to rejoice when others are succeeding.

3. Lord, catch all the little foxes that are set to destroy Your vineyard in the land.
